Global Advisory Board

The members of the board have been selected from diverse backgrounds and bring their expertise across the following disciplines that include mechanical engineering (acoustics and vibration), design and wellbeing, workplace and human factors, and business strategy and marketing. 

Michael Neale

Michael Neale

Michael Neale is Managing Director and Principal Consultant of strategic marketing consultancy firm Literally Brilliant. Prior to this, Michael worked in client-side strategic marketing, holding significant roles including Director of Marketing at ERA Technology UK, Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications at the University of Adelaide and Chief Marketing Officer for the San Remo food group.

Mr Neale holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in marketing as well as a Masters of Business by Research from the University of South Australia and is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Adelaide Business School, University of Adelaide.

He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute and a Certified Practising Marketer. Michael is a thinker, commentator, researcher and writer in his field. He continues to work in advancing marketing best practice. 

Kati Barklund

Kati Barklund has a long and unique workplace background after working in the forefront of both physical and digital workplace areas. Kati is also part of Strategic Advisory Group of the international workplace strategy community Workplace Evolutionaries (WE), where she is the Lead for the WE Hubs and expansion worldwide.

Ms Barklund recently moved from the Modern Workplace area at Microsoft to Sweden-based property and workplace advisory company Tenant & Partners, where she focuses on Business Development and Strategic Workplace Advisory. She also holds a number of strategic advisory roles within both physical and digital workplace areas.

Mark Strauss

Mark Strauss

Mark Strauss drove the success of Interior Design Magazine and Media for over 20 years and has maintained a distinguished reputation in the global design and architecture industries. With intimate knowledge of how Design impacts people and organizations, Mr Strauss continues to pursue the mission of firmly tying the power of great design to Evidence Based Human Well-Being.

Mr Strauss is a sought-after speaker both within and outside the Design and Real Estate Communities. He sits on the Board of CIDA, the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, has additionally served in advisory roles for USGBC and BIFMA, ACT, and is Honorary IIDA, International Interior Design Association. He has since been made Emeritus President of Interior Design Magazine/Media for his significant and ongoing contribution to the organisation. 

Colin Hansen

Colin Hansen

Professor Hansen is a distinguished mechanical engineer with a long and impressive history of working in the area of acoustics. Prof Hansen has been working in the field of noise and vibration for 40 years where he has been responsible for over 100 consulting projects in noise and vibration control. He has authored or co-authored 13 books, edited two books, contributed seven chapters to various books and co-authored or authored over 300 papers in international journals and conference proceedings on acoustics and vibration.

Prof Hansen is a past president and an Honorary Fellow of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV). He is a Fellow of the Australian Acoustical Society and a Fellow of Engineers Australia, received the 2013 A.G.M. Michell medal from Engineers Australia for outstanding service to the discipline of Mechanical Engineering, the 2014 Rossing Prize in Acoustics Education from the Acoustical Society of America, and was the recipient of two Erskine Fellowships. 

Dr Olga Umnova

Dr Umnova holds a Masters Degree of Science in Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology as well as a PhD in Acoustics from the Russian Academy of Sciences. She was appointed to a Post-Doctoral position at the University of Hull, UK and then to a position as Lecturer in Theoretical Acoustics at the University of Salford before being appointed Reader by University of Salford in 2012.
