Dowie Doole Vineyard

Protecting a wonderful design from unwanted sound saves the experience for this McLaren Vale Vineyard.

The McLaren Vale produces wines beloved around the world from its breathtakingly beautiful vineyards. To showcase both, Dowie Doole Vineyards worked with designer Oli Scholz of Vinall Design to build an immersive wine-tasting experience. Sustainability is the message of the design, where reclaimed rusted shipping containers meet wine-soaked barrel staves, with customers flowing from vineyard to public space to tasting room. The environment is stunning, but the sound inside those walls was not. The materiality of the metal and wood walls make a primary visual statement, and floors flowing from the outdoors can’t accept carpet, so Acoufelt went to the ceiling, fitting quiet Piano Black panels around lighting and infrastructure to protect the experience and the vision for Dowie Doole.
